I was very impressed with the information provided regarding the potential refinishing of our hardwood floor. Jacob asked many relevant questions and described in detail what would be done including the depth of the sanding (to the depth of the bevel) and the refinishing process. He answered all of our questions. Although we ultimately decided to postpone the job, we will certainly use this company when we are ready to move forward.

We just moved into our new place and the floors needed some serious work (among everything else!). Jacob was great to work with. Easy to reach, clear on every detail, and kept things moving. Floors look incredible and the whole house feels better for it.

The house my wife and I bought had very damaged hardwood floors. 1 Day hardwood floor refinishing came in and sanded the floors down flat removing all scratches and dents in the floor. Once done they put on a beautiful natural wood finish. They kept the space clean, kept us updated on the timelines and were quick to answer any questions we had.

Our 1916 floors have been given a new life - they are spectacular. Jacob was quick to communicate, clear on service and pricing and came by to inspect our 1916 white oak floors before finalizing the cost. He then brought his specialist Craig over to inspect and share his plan with us. They came on time, guided us on prep and were done one day faster than estimated. We had Jacob come out to the house to look at our extremely old hardwood flooring because we wanted a second opinion if they were salvageable. After meeting with Jacob we were so impressed with what he had to say we went with 1 Day Refinishing and could not be happier with the results. They were able to breathe new life into our nearly 100 year old floors and they look like new.

Tom took time and effort to do a fabulous job on our 1600+sf of very old hardwood.

Jacob and the team did a great job refinishing our red Oak hardwood or so I thought The floor looks good with a new coating.
Currently they were not able to provide a water based coating so be prepared when the oil based finish is applied that it will take 3-4 days to harden and with reduced smell. If you are living in your home during the oil-based floor coating, you will want to have your windows open for a few days. Not a wintertime task. Oil-based takes up to 28 days to fully cure. Insist on multiple layers of water based. Much harder than what they used.
They completed the work without needing to remove baseboards, however they will get scuffed and will need some touchup painting. The floors on close inspection near the baseboards is not good. The disadvantage of not removing the baseboards is that the coating will only cover the floor up to the baseboard.
Oil-based coating takes at least twice as long to harden enough to be able to move furniture back in place.
In a nutshell I would have preferred water-based as I have personally used it twice with great success over 30 years to refinish our floors with less inconvenience and faster drying and less household disruption.

4 months in and I have scratches on my floor already. Have found spots poorly done. I did my floors myself close to 20 years ago and had minimal scratches and wear. Only reason why I had them refinished was due to traffic wear in one area. The coating they used is very thin and soft. I could have done a way better job at a 1/3rd of the cost. After a few months I must say I would hesitate to recommend. I can see myself having to redo within 4-5 years.

We recently had our floors refinished by 1 Day Refinishing and we are not happy. In speaking with Jacob I wanted to make sure that someone with excellent experience would do our floors. He sent out a crew who was nice, but not efficient. They spent more time in their vehicle than working in our home. One day I was 15 minutes late and when I got to the house I apologized. The crew said no worries, they would finish their coffee and start. One hour later they started. We expected some rubbing on our baseboards but they were chiselled and when staining, there was left over stain on our white baseboards. Jacob told me to get Goof off to clean it. What should have taken three days, ended up being four, however I wanted to ensure a good job, so we held off moving in. The crew mentioned that they had to do more sanding on our floors because our floors were uneven, however there is still beveling throughout. Dirt between was not removed from the boards, and just stained over. There are roller marks all over the floor and places where there is grit under the varathane. There are even drip marks in a few places. Jacob offered to have the crew back but we couldn’t hold off moving in for several more days more. I had told the crew I was not happy on the second coat, but I was reassured that the final float (light sand) and coat would not show any deficiencies. This was not the case. I asked about payment and I was told I could not pay by credit card. Only cash or e transfer and I had to pay 50% in advance of the job. I have never heard of this before. Because I was so unhappy I held back GST on the job as this basically was a “cash” job and to repair the damage on the baseboards would far exceed the $137. I would not recommend this company whatsoever. Our floors look awful and the baseboards, even worse.
