Hardwood Floor Refinishing Services in Portland, OR
Sanding & Refinishing Hardwood Floors
Sanding, Staining, & Refinishing Hardwood Floors – Traditional hardwood floor refinishing is our specialty. Let us perform an on-site visit, and we will evaluate the current condition of your hardwood floors. To the untrained eye, they may all look the same. That’s why you can count on our over three decades of experience to accurately assess your flooring situation, including the species of wood, whether it was pre-finished or finished on site, whether it has a top nail, and the thickness of the top layer, among others. During our visit, we would also like to learn more about your personal preferences. Hardwood floor refinishing gives you a lot of freedom with the choice of color, finish, and overall look of your floors.
Sandless Floor Refinishing
Sandless Floor Refinishing (same as Recoating and Screening). Are you happy overall with your current hardwood floors, but feel that they just don’t look as bright as they did, and regular mopping doesn’t seem to do the trick? We can definitely help! Sandless hardwood floor refinishing, also known as recoating, is a method of removing the top layer of the dull finish and reapplying a new finish, so your floors get their fresh look back. Moreover, if regularly done, recoating can actually increase your floors durability and longevity, which is good for your wallet!
Complete Hardwood Floor Restoration
Hardwood floor restoration is a custom way to find the best service option/solution to remedy your current flooring issues. It might include hardwood floor installation and add-ons or an extension of your existing wood floors (we will carefully match the wood floors’ type, plank size, and species). Repairs can also be made for minor damages, but in case of pet-related stains and deep scratches, water damages, and spot burns, we can replace individual planks and perfectly match them to the original hardwood flooring in terms of species, dimensions, and even natural wood aging. We also do custom staining (to match old floors or match your design requirements) and can do an on-site live stain demonstration, in addition to demonstrating selected or custom stain finishes, so you can see how new floors will match your living space.

“Miracle workers!!! I had left on vacation for these other people to do my floor and they ruined it. But Claudio and his team resurrected it and saved our floors. The work was all completed in one day while my wife and I were gone for work. And when I got home they brought out the natural wood beauty back!! Thank you so much for the amazing job!”
“1 day Hardwood Refinishing was excellent from the beginning to the end. The Rep. showed us how everything would be done, gave us referrals etc. They started right on time and the result was amazing. The place was perfectly clean and very little dust was left anywhere. Our 30 year old natural yellowed hardwood floors were stained gray and look brand new . The color variation is beautiful and we didn’t imagine they could look so good. Soooo worth every penny. We highly recommend this company!”
“I had a great experience with this company. I called, got a great quote, it took 2 days and my maple floors look amazing! There was minimal dust and little clean up after they were finished. If you’ve been thinking about getting your floors redone and dreading the work and cost involved like I did, call these guys, they are professional and cost efficient”

FAQ: Hardwood Floor Refinishing
How much does it cost to refinish hardwood floors?
“What is the average cost of refinishing hardwood floors?” is the most common question we hear over the phone. The cost of wood floor refinishing depends on many factors, such as the type of wood flooring type (solid or engineered), thickness of top wear layer, type of existing finish (urethane, oil, aluminum oxide, etc), type of new finish (oil or water based finish), and other additional factors (groove depth, nails on the top, areas of wood repairs and replacements). Our base hardwood refinishing price starts at $2.60 per sq.ft. and includes hardwood sanding and finishing with 3-layers of water-based heavy duty finish Traffic from BONA®.
Can you refinish hardwood floors without sanding?
Yes! Sandless hardwood floor refinishing, also called hardwood floor buffing, is one of the most popular services nowadays, and it is also the only option for engineered hardwood floors with 2 mm or less of top wear layer. This option also allows you to renew up to 800 sq.ft of wood floors within a day, whereas traditional hardwood floor refinishing usually takes 2-3 days!
Can I change the color of my hardwood floor?
Homeowners are often unaware that they can, in fact, change the color of their hardwood flooring before refinishing. Yes, it’s true! There is a large variety of colors to choose from, whether light, dark, or anything in between, no matter which color you are starting with.
Does sanding produce a lot of dust?
When you sand a floor, there is going to be dust. Luckily, there are many ways to minimize the dust! You can put up plastic around areas not being worked on, and you can use a vacuum machine to collect all that pesky dust.
How long after service do I have to wait to walk on the floors?
New floors shouldn’t be walked on in socks for at least 6 hours. After 24 hours, feel free to walk back and forth with shoes on. Give it 48 hours before you set furniture down or let your pets roam.
Is DIY hardwood refinishing a good idea?
Refinishing hardwood floors DIY is a great idea, but will require good carpeting/labor experience. People often think that they can save a lot of money by refinishing their hardwood on their own. That is actually not the case. The maximum that you would save is 10-20% of the price. We say maximum, because often people spend more than what we would charge. Here’s the simple reason why – you will need to rent 2-3 professional refinishing tools that usually cost $69-120 a day per item. You’ll also need to buy stain, filler, finishes, repair material, sanding paper, etc. In addition, without the necessary experience, it will take twice the amount of time for you to do the work compared to our team. So while, yes, you may opt to take on this project yourself, you may actually get it done more efficiently and cost-effectively by hiring a local business with 10+ years of experience that purchases high-quality supplies directly from manufacturers.
